Modern gaming phenomenon PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is getting a new map for its 1.0 launch, and while screenshots of it have been floating about for some months now, the maps has finally been named, with details about its individual locations revealed.
Previously just referred to as PUBG's desert map, the second map for the game is called Miramar, a somewhat common name in areas of the United States named by Spanish and Portugese settlers. It roughly translates to "sea view," referring to how parts of Miramar are on the beach, with a large shipping area and a seaside town.
It contrasts to the currently existing map, Erangel, in that it's not an island. While there is a large seafront area, most of the map is inland, without rivers or much water at all. The release of Miramar will make one of the final steps before PUBG reaches its full version 1.0 release.

This was announced - alongside a full map reveal and a few new screenshots - on the Steam Community page for PUBG. La Bendita, one of the locations on the map, looks like a giant crater, and should be an interesting place for shootouts.
There's no release date for this new map yet, but given the scale of this announcement compared to previous hints and teasers, it's likely to be released quite soon on PC, with Xbox to follow later.
