Streets of Rage is now out for mobile devices and it features local cross-platform multiplayer.
SEGA announced its classic 1991 beat 'em up will allow users across iOS and Android devices to play against each other. Multiplayer is local through WiFi, with the mobile port also featuring leaderboards, cloud saves, and controller support.
Streets of Rage is available to download for free, with ad support, from the App Store and Google Play Store. Players can also purchase the title for $1.99 USD/€2.29/£1.99 to remove the ads.
Streets of Rage is now part of SEGA Forever, a growing collection of classic SEGA games available for mobile devices. SEGA will also add cross-platform local multiplayer to the mobile versions of Golden Axe and Altered Beast in the coming weeks.
Streets of Rage is the first entry in the trilogy and introduces players to the series' three main characters: Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding, and Adam Hunter. The trio are former police officers who have to put a stop to the evil mastermind Mr. X's nefarious plans.
