IT star Jack Dylan Grazer has joined the upcoming DC film Shazam!
According to The Hollywood Reporter Grazer, who plays Eddie Kaspbrak in IT, will portray Billy Batson's (Asher Angel) best friend Freddy Freeman. He's the only person who knows Billy can transform into the adult superhero Captain Marvel and, in the comics, eventually becomes a superhero himself, Captain Marvel Jr. However, it's not known if this'll actually happen in the film.
Captain Marvel Jr. first appeared in 1941's Whiz Comics #25. Unlike Billy's Captain Marvel, Freeman's Captain Marvel Jr. remains a teenager in his transformed state.
Shazam! also stars Zachary Levi as Earth's Mightiest Hero, with Green Lantern's Mark Strong also in talks to play the film's main villain, Thaddeus Sivana a.k.a. Doctor Sivana. The movie will be directed by David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation), with production expected to begin February in Toronto.
