Outlast 3 has been confirmed, and the Outlast franchise is coming to the Nintendo Switch early next year.
Developer Red Barrels confirmed on Facebook it will make Outlast 3 at some point, and the first quarter of 2018 will see the franchise debut on Switch. It's important to note that the studio said franchise and didn't specify if the collection or separate releases are coming.
Additionally, the studio said it is currently working on new project set in the Outlast universe.
Red Barrels said that while the first game was made to be open for the addition of DLC, "that was not the case for Outlast 2." The team considered many options, but none of them "felt appropriate" as DLC for Outlast 2. Because of this, the studio is working on a completely new project that isn't a sequel to Outlast 1 or 2, but rather "a distinct experience set in the Outlast universe."
Red Barrels has created some truly horrifying games. For our thoughts on the studio's work, be sure to read our reviews of Outlast, the Whistleblower DLC, and Outlast 2.
