Netflix Confirms Bright Sequel

Please let this one be set in fantasy Miami.

Netflix has announced that Bright will receive a sequel after it became the most-watched film on the service in its first week of release.

Stars Will Smith and Joel Edgerton, alongside director David Ayer, are "expected to return" for the sequel, but no plot or release details have been given.

Bright is currently the number 1 film on Netflix in every country, and is among the biggest ever Netflix originals ever launched, including sequels and follow-up seasons.

We awarded the film a 7.0 review, calling it a "fun ride", but saying that it "could have been something truly special if it had slowed down the pace of its narrative to allow for a fuller exploration of its engaging world."

Thankfully, our reviewer David Griffin seems to have gotten his wish when he said: "Will Smith and Joel Edgerton are a compelling duo I’d love to see again in a sequel, or even a new series produced by Netflix, so hopefully, this isn’t the last we’ll see of the world of Bright."

Joe Skrebels is IGN's UK News Editor, and he hopes Bright 2 corrects the first film's mistake by letting Will Smith write the closing credits song. Follow him on Twitter.
