Wolves sign Rafa Mir from Valencia

Wolves have signed striker Rafa Mir from Valencia on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has linked up with Rafa Mir again

Wolves have signed striker Rafa Mir from Valencia on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

It means the 20-year-old, who had also been linked with Real Madrid, is reunited with Nuno Espirito Santo who he worked with when the Wolves boss was coach at Valencia.

Mir, who has scored 15 goals in 19 games for Valencia's B team this season, would have been out of contract this summer and has moved to Molineux for an undisclosed fee.

He told Wolves' official website: "I'm really excited to play with this team and to try and help the players achieve all the goals that the club has.

"It's a club that has already played in the Premier League. It's one of the biggest clubs in England and I'm really looking forward to my time with Wolves.

Mir will provide competition for Leo Bonatini who has been a big success at Wolves this season

"I think the type of football that is played in England is very good for me as a player. It suits me and I think, with training, I could bring some good things to the team."

Mir admitted the chance to work under Nuno was a factor in the switch.

"Nuno played a big part of my decision to come here," he added. "Wolves is a big project and it's an exciting challenge to be a part of it.

"It's great to be able to work with a coach that I already know and that was an important factor in signing for the club."

Mir has been bought to provide competition and cover for Leo Bonatini.

Bonatini has been an instant success at Wolves, scoring 12 goals and playing in all of the club's Sky Bet Championship games this season.

Wolves went 12 points clear at the top of the table when they beat Brentford 3-0 on Tuesday.
