Wolves pull off another transfer coup by pipping Real Madrid to teenage starlet

He will wear the No.9 shirt with the Championship leaders after signing a four-and-a-half year deal

Wolves have pulled off a major coup by landing Valencia youngster Rafa Mir.

The 20-year-old had been linked with Real Madrid, who are believed to have launched a £500,000 bid earlier this week.

But Valencia accepted a £2m bid for Mir, who was out of contract at the end of the season.

He will wear the No.9 shirt with the Championship leaders after signing a four-and-a-half year deal.

It is another incredible signing for the club since the takeover from the Fosun group in 2016.

Since then, they have broken their transfer record on three separate occasions, with the arrivals of Ivan Cavaleiro, Helder Costa and Ruben Neves.

The latter, who has been arguably the best player in the Championship this season, signed for £15.8m in the summer.

Nuno's side have enjoyed an excellent campaign to date and are already 12 points ahead of second-placed Derby.

The 3-0 win over Brentford on Wednesday extended their unbeaten record to 12 matches.
