Inter Milan are keen on Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata.
Mata’s current contract expires at the end of the season but United have an option to extend his deal by an extra 12 months.
Spain star Mata, 29, will want to be sure he continues to have a future at Old Trafford before committing himself to a new deal.
But Inter are now watching developments closely and will be ready to move in should Mata be allowed to leave at the end of the season.
Despite being shipped out of Chelsea, Jose Mourinho has used Mata regularly at United.
But if United want to complete a big deal for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil - a free agent in the summer - then they may be ready to let Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan leave.
Mkhitaryan was an unused substitute in the 2-0 win over Everton on New Year's Day.Read More
