The Cleveland Cavaliers demolished the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals by a score of 130-86 on Friday night to take a 2-0 series lead. Cleveland jumped out to an NBA playoff record 41-point halftime lead and led by as many as 50 points before Boston closed the gap slightly at the end of the fourth quarter. LeBron James was the best player on the floor yet again, scoring 30 points and dishing out seven assists in less than 33 minutes of play. Boston couldn't accomplish much against an energized and focused Cleveland defense, shooting just 37.2 percent from the field throughout the contest at TD Garden.Game 3 will be at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET. You'll be able to catch the contest on TNT.

Well, that was fun. The Celtics lost big, lost Isaiah Thomas to a hip injury and now head on the road for a (futile?) attempt to make this series competitive.

  • Clock Icon3:39 am

Cavs 130, Celtics 84 — 1:16 left in the fourth quarter

The Cavs have outscored the Celtics 57 to 24 from the three-point line, with eight separate Cleveland players making trifectas. That's certainly one of the many reasons the lead remains so massive.

  • Clock Icon2:42 am

Cavs 124, Celtics 78 — 3:24 Left in the Fourth Quarter

The Celtics crowd actually got a bit hyped there for a few seconds. Some "Let's go Celtics!" cheers broke out. Fans may be realizing that this could be Boston's last home game this season.

  • Clock Icon2:37 am

Cavs 112, Celtics 66 — 8:24 Left in the Fourth Quarter

Who's going to do it? Jaylen Brown is the only guy who looks like he wants to be on the floor for the Celtics.

  • Clock Icon2:24 am

Cavs 103, Celtics 57 — End of third quarter

The encouraging part about this blowout for Cavs fans is that the domination has been on both ends of the floor. Cleveland has been dominant offensively at several points this season, but it has rarely been this locked in on both ends of the floor.

For the Celtics, this game (and series) has to be about silver linings now. One of those silver linings is Jaylen Brown, who has flashed some offensive game in the first two contests. He has 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting in this series so far.

  • Clock Icon1:45 am

Terry Rozier just committed one of the worst turnovers you'll see in the playoffs. After losing his dribble just past half court, he picked up the ball and passed it to a teammate in the backcourt. Boston can't afford to just waste possessions like that when it's down 18 points.

    Best Player in the World

NBA on TNT just announced that LeBron James did not make the top three in MVP voting this year. It was totally reasonable to have him No. 4 after a lackluster regular season for the Cavs as a team, but LeBron is showing everybody why he's the real best player in the league in the postseason.

  • Clock Icon12:14 am

    More Toughness Needed

Al Horford ended Game 1 with eight rebounds, but most of those came when the Cavs were already up big. Tristan Thompson ate him up in the paint early in the contest, which helped Cleveland run out to its big lead.
