Arsenal fans heap praise on surprise player in win over AC Milan

The former Manchester United striker hasn't been great in recent weeks but looked good in Italy

Danny Welbeck hasn't been in great form for Arsenal in the past few months.

The former Manchester United striker last hit the back of the net for the Gunners in their FA Cup defeat to Championship outfit Nottingham Forest on January 7.

His last goal in the league was back in September, and he's since made 15 more appearances this season, without netting once.

Perhaps the worst statistic of them all however is the fact he's scored just five times in 27 games in all competitions this season.

Against AC Milan in the first leg of Arsenal's last-16 Europa League tie he again failed to get on the scoresheet.

But he was busy in the attacking third, and made Leonardo Bonucci's night hell - preventing the defender from dictating play from the back.

He also drifted out wide well, pulling defenders into the flanks and creating space for the like of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil to flourish.

Best of all his hard work and determination didn't go unnoticed, and it seems Welbeck was the name on everyone's lips after the game.
