GETTYArsenal held talks over a deal for Benedikt Howedes in the summer
Howedes called time on his lengthy Schalke career last month after learning he would no longer be the club’s captain, completing a loan move to Juve.
The Italian giants will sign the 29-year-old, who has 44 caps for Germany, next summer for £10m.
His agent, Volker Struth, has revealed that a number of clubs were keen on Howedes before he decided to move to Turin.
Arsenal looked into a deal for him amid the speculation linking Shkodran Mustafi with a move to Inter Milan.
Mustafi ended up staying put in north London and Howedes eventually completed his dream move to Juventus.
Struth told Bild: “When this new situation [losing the captaincy] arrived we get in touch with [Juve Sporting Director Fabio] Paratici.
“We also were in touch with other clubs, such as Roma, Leicester and Arsenal because we knew Inter wanted Mustafi.

“It was soon clear that if he makes the move, it would be Turin. That was Benni's favourite from the very beginning.
“With all due respect to Schalke, even if things had gone super there, you want to join a club like Juve when you get the chance. Juventus are the jackpot."
Howedes is yet to make his competitive debut for Juventus and missed their 3-0 Champions League defeat at Barcelona last night.
