The Nation's Weather for Friday, December 29, 2017

Frigid air will maintain its grip from the northern Plains

to New England tomorrow as the chill eases slightly in the

South. A large portion of the South and East will remain

dry. Snow showers downwind of the Great Lakes and over the

central Appalachians will be an exception. A bit of rain,

and perhaps some ice, may brush the coastal Carolinas prior

to a storm being whisked out to sea. A strip of snow will

extend from the interior Northwest to part of the central

Plains. A storm will crash onto the Pacific Northwest coast

with heavy rain for western Washington and northwestern

Oregon. Significant snow will fall farther inland across the

northern Rockies. Mild and sunny conditions are anticipated

in the Southwest.
