Teenager, 17, stabbed to death on way to New Year's Eve party

This is the first picture of the 17-year-old who was stabbed to death while on his way to a New Year's Eve party.

Kyall Parnell, 17, was chased and attacked in front of revellers in south London.

He was one of four young men knifed to death in the capital as the city saw in the new year.

Kyall's mum Katrina has paid tribute to her 'amazing and smart' son.

She told the Evening Standard: “He was loved. This shouldn’t have happened. These boys need to stop doing what they’re doing.

“My boy was amazing, he was smart. He had potential to go places. They would be calling me and telling me he was the smartest boy in the class. He needed to be doing active things. He was good boy.”

Kyall’s grandmother Maida Grant, 67, added: “This is happening too much. Every day if there is an argument, a knife is always involved. If they don’t get a response they want, they still draw a knife.

“It’s as if life is cheap and they don’t think of the consequences.”

The teenager, from Streatham, had recently enrolled on a bricklaying course and was attacked after a fight broke out on a bus near Tulse Hill station just before 10.45pm.

Clive Harriott, 56, described how he watched a group of about 10 teenagers "arguing and shouting" before police rushed to the scene.

He said the group were stood around a bus stop and an officer appeared to be trying to revive someone lying on the ground.

Eighty people were stabbed to death in London last year- 20 were teenagers.

An 18-year-old man and two others aged 20, were killed in separate attacks during the London new year celebrations.

A second 20-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Detectives have arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old in Islington on New Year’s Day.

Detectives investigating the murder of an 18-year-old in Enfield on New Year’s Eve have charged three men.

Two have been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and an another, aged 18, has been charged with possession of a firearm.

One man has been bailed and another remains under arrest in hospital.
