The Canadian reportedly died on Tuesday in California, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s office.
Her cause of death was unlisted by the coroner, but her pals believe Ames – who suffered from depression – took her own life.
Cops said she was pronounced dead at the scene and there was no indication of foul play.

On the same day she died, August uploaded a cryptic post on her Twitter profile which read “f*** y’all”.
The star had courted controversy after she refused to appear in scenes with me who had performed in gay sex movies over “fears to her health”.
Her comments were slammed by critics who accused her of being homophobic.
Ames' husband, director Kevin Moore, said: “She was the kindest person I ever knew and she meant the world to me.
“Please leave this as a private family matter in this difficult time.”
Fans also left tributes to the adult star under her last post.

“I watched every video you made I’m so lost for words I can’t believe you’re gone you always posted videos everyday, so I knew something was up when you didn’t post on Instagram for three days. She was an angel.”
Ames was born Mercedes Grabowski in Nova Scotia and worked in a bar before she joined the adult film industry in 2013.
She appeared in more than 270 x-rated films and bagged award nominations for her performances in hardcore movies.
