The regime has lashed out at the US after it pushed through UN sanctions that are designed to strangle the state’s economy.
And President Donald Trump has refused to rule out an armed conflict against Kim Jong-un, saying it will happen if North Korea keeps threatening the West.
US General James “Mad Dog” Mattis has even warned the hermit kingdom faces “total annihilation” if it continues its provocative nuclear missile testing.
But North Korea is showing no signs of backing down.
GETTYTHREAT: North Kore has told the United States it will not back down
“The US brigandish theory is that it can let us remain alive if we quit nuclear and obey them”North Korea
Pryongyang has said it has no plans to give up its nuclear program as it will help “ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula and the security in the region, and no one can take issue with it.”
A statement said: “The US brigandish theory is that it can let us remain alive if we quit nuclear and obey them, but it can't tolerate us if we hold fast to nuclear and maintain independence.
“That's why such theory will never work on us.
“Gone are the days never to return when the US used to pose threats to the DPRK unilaterally with nukes."
It added: “No matter what others may say, as long as the US persists in its hostile policy, the DPRK will continue to take steps to beef up its nuclear force to protect the country's sovereignty and the nation's dignity.”
It also warned the United States it must accept the country as a nuclear-armed power.
However, this is unlikely to happen as the US has said Kim must halt his program before there can be peace.
