X Factor 2017 faces major shake up as Simon Cowell 'ditches normal Sunday results show'

SIMON Cowell has reportedly changed The X Factor's normal Sunday night results show.

BOSS MAN: Simon Cowell has reportedly brought some changes to X Factor's live shows

The talent contest returned this month in the search of a new Louisa Johnson, Matt Terry or Little Mix.

It's set to be the shortest series ever, with the final airing on December 3 and there being only six weeks of live shows.

And when the live finals eventually start, they're reportedly set for a huge change that will shake up the format.

JUDGES: Simon Cowell and his co-stars returned earlier this month

“Simon Cowell's been pitching to producers that the show should ditch the traditional Sunday night format”

Simon Cowell is said to have changed up the weekend's shows, bringing in guest performers on both nights – and axing acts on Saturdays too.

"Simon loves making changes to the show's format to keep it fresh, so he's been pitching to producers that the show should ditch the traditional Sunday night format, which is always 15 minutes recapping the previous night's show, a guest performer, a sing off and an elimination," a source told The Sun Online.

They added: "He wants the show to mix things up – have guest performers on Saturday's show, kick out acts on both nights of the weekend. It'll be must-see TV.

"The shows will be tighter, less predictable for viewers and acts will perform across the weekend."

FAMILIAR FACE: Shereen from the Cutkelvins used to be in Neon Jungle

With fewer live shows, it would make sense for hopeful acts to be voted off on Saturdays as well as Sundays, though there has been no official word from ITV yet.

This year's series has seen a number of experienced singers try their luck in front of Simon and his co-judges.

Last weekend, Cutkelvins member Shereen auditioned with her brothers, after being a member of failed girlband Neon Jungle.

EXPERIENCED: Deanna Mussington has worked with some impressive people

Deanna Mussington impressed the judges, though it was revealed she's already worked with an impressive roster of industry members.

Do they have what it takes to go all the way to the final and try and bag that Christmas Number One?

Daily Star Online has contacted The X Factor for comment.

The X Factor continues Saturday night at 8pm on ITV.
