BREAKING HIS SILENCE: Ant said 'I let myself down, I let a lot of people down'

Ant's statement comes after he told the court he was "ashamed and mortified" following his car crash last month.

The Britain's Got Talent presenter – who lives in Chiswick, West London – was arrested at around 4pm on March 18 after failing a roadside breathalyser test, following a collision between his Mini and two other vehicles.

The charge stated he had 75 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, which is more than double the legal limit.

The Metropolitan Police previously confirmed a number of individuals were treated at the scene for minor injuries and a small child passenger from one of the vehicles was taken to hospital to be checked as a precaution.

During proceedings, Ant's lawyer, Liam Walker, said: "He hopes in time he can make himself better and that he might be forgiven by all of the people he has let down so terribly."

District Judge Barbara Barnes told Declan Donnelly's co-star that "he is no longer of good character".

She fined McPartlin £86,000 and gave him a 20-month driving ban, with the presenter given 14 days to pay the fine.

Ant's ban can be reduced to 15 months if he attends a driving awareness course.

The court heard McPartlin earns around £130,000 a week.
