Sniffie Autumn/Winter 2017: LFW kicks off with a dog fashion show

London Fashion Week was given a soft launch last night, in the form of a fashion show for dogs. Sniffie, a new online dog outfitter, debuted its Autumn/Winter 2017 collection; a series of diamante encrusted coats - think denim jackets, silky bombers and tartan capes - and vests for pups as well as a number of matching pieces for owners too, as onlookers sipped on glasses of 'pawsecco'.

''I’ve been toying with the idea for about five years,'' says founder Caroline Roberts whose credentials are rooted in previous positions at Victoria Beckham, Dolce & Gabbana and Loewe, ''because having looked around at a lot of the manufacturers for doggie clothing, they're [usually] a little too childish and not of good quality, and actually quite pricey,'' she continues before adding: ''You don’t buy your kids clothes if you’re not happy with what they look like...''

Was it a challenge organising a catwalk show for dogs? ''Not at all,'' Roberts assures us, ''British dogs are so well behaved and well mannered because everyone loves them and they train them well -- they’re actually much easier to work with than humans,'' she laughs.

The SNIFFIE collection retails from £70 for a vest to £200 for a jacket, available to buy from sniffiestyle.com
