A South Florida spec home with a glass-enclosed gym and a “meditation garden” is listing for $38 million.
Located in a gated community on La Gorce Island in Miami Beach, the newly built waterfront home measures about 11,000 square feet, with seven bedrooms, a swimming pool and a dock on Florida’s Biscayne Bay. The contemporary house is being sold fully furnished, said its developer Thomas R. Danluck, who has been involved in a number of projects on La Gorce Island.

Outside, there is a swimming pool with an outdoor kitchen and cabana, and the meditation garden, which has a roughly 35-foot-tall bamboo plant in its center. Inside the house, a reflecting pool surrounds a spiral staircase on three sides, Mr. Danluck said. Another spiral staircase leads from the driveway to the glass-enclosed gym. Upstairs, the roughly 2,000-square-foot master suite has his-and-hers bathrooms and closets; the “her” closet has mock crocodile paneling.
Mr. Danluck said he bought the roughly half-acre site in 2014 for $14 million, tore down the existing house and spent more than two years building this house. He knew the property because he had once lived around the corner, he said, and felt it would be a good choice for development because of its position at the western tip of the island, which yields views of the Miami skyline.
La Gorce is popular because it provides privacy but also is located about a mile from the ocean, according to Jill Eber of the Jills team at Coldwell Banker, which has the listing.
