The F Word chef endured the revolting experience because the cheeky host reminded him of an event that occurred seven years ago between the pair.
James had initially forgotten the promise the 50-year-old made in 2010 - that if he ate a fish eye delicacy his entire family could eat in his restaurant for free - until his dad reminded him that the star had never fulfilled it.
Deciding to finally repay the favour, James slowly held out the plate to his friend as he said: “It’s been seven years. Eat the eye."
Resigned to his fate, Gordon seemed to contemplate how to tackle the task before sighing and picking up the dreaded spoon.

It’s been seven years. Eat the eye.
However, after sliding the slippery food into his mouth without much fuss, he reached for a glass to swallow it down with and violently vomited it back up across the studio.
Shocked, the CBS show’s host burst into laughter before skidding back on his chair, covered in the chef’s spit.
The pranksters were joined by Irish actor Brendan Gleeson on the studio sofa who applauded and patted Gordon on the back for his efforts.
The last time Gordon appeared on James’ show, he offered to drive him to the airport and put dinner with his wife on hold.

What followed was his immediate regret however, as James began to increasingly annoy him with his back-seat antics and Friends (the TV show) karaoke - leading to endless theme tune clapping.
The Late Late Show with James Corden airs weeknights at 12.37am US Eastern Time on CBS.
