How modesty won over fashion... and sexy fought back
A battle that's been brewing over fashion month came to a head in Paris, with two of the biggest shows taking their corners: Saint Laurent short-and-spray-on sexiness against uber-minimal modesty at Valentino.
"With red carpets becoming protest marches," says Charlie Gowans-Eglinton, "and allegations against fashion industry photographers, stylists and designers continuing to roll in, do women still want sexy?"

How red-carpet dressing can mean big business for Hollywood actresses
After an awards season of all-black red carpets, a return to colour and old Hollywood glamour at the Oscars left us with plenty to talk about - not least the announcement of Margot Robbie's new role as a Chanel ambassador.
"This was a masterclass in why it's so important to invest in a great stylist in Hollywood," says Caroline Leaper of Robbie, "she's worked with Kate Young, who also looks after Natalie Portman and Selena Gomez, since 2016. And over the two years, they've worked together to really build up Margot Robbie's fashion credentials. It's proof that if you get that styling journey right, it can actually pay massive dividends." And while we don't know quite how massive, we're guessing in the millions.

Why you should be double-coating...
... and the other takeaways from Paris fashion week, like pairing stomping boots and flat shoes with everything, even eveningwear, how a McQueen jumper became the talking point of the week, and why a party coat will serve you far better - and last far longer - than a party dress.
"At Balenciaga we saw multi-coating, which is great news for inveterate over-packers like me," Emily Cronin explains, "you no longer have to try to fit your outerwear in your suitcase, you can just wear all of your coats at once. There were blazers layered under parkas layered under these huge opera coats with ruffled hems..." That's certainly one way to beat the beast from the east.
