Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris DLC countdown: Release date and time, as PS4 servers go offline

DESTINY 2 Curse of Osiris is almost here, as Bungie releases its first expansion on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris DLC

UPDATE 3: Destiny 2 fans can pre-load Curse of Osiris, complete with a patch to go with it.

The Destiny 2 update 1.11 is available on PS4, where it weighs in at just 6.1 GB. Even better news is that the Xbox One X update file includes 4K support and HDR.

Bungie confirmed the news on Twitter, before telling fans that maintenance has started.

"Downloads have begun. Servers will be back online once maintenance is complete. Our target is 10AM Pacific. Stay tuned for updates!"

If all goes to plan, Curse of Osiris will be ready to play at 6pm UK time, although Destiny 2 maintenance periods have been extended in the past.

UPDATE 2: Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris has been given a launch trailer ahead of tonight's release.

With the launch of Curse of Osiris just a few hours away, Bungie has showcased the new features and location in the new trailer.

You can check out the Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris launch trailer further down the page.

UPDATE: Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris should be available to play from 6pm UK time, Bungie has confirmed.

Curse of Osiris will be playable following a 3-hour maintenance period on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The game will go offline from 3pm UK time until 6pm UK time later today (December 5). The expansion should be available once the maintenance is complete.

"Destiny 2 will be brought offline tomorrow (12/05) for server maintenance in preparation for Update 1.1.0 and the Curse of Osiris DLC," reads a Bungie blog post. "Expected duration is 7 AM PST to 10 AM PST."

ORIGINAL: Destiny 2 fans are counting down to the release of the Curse of Osiris DLC.

The PS4, Xbox One and PC expansion has a December 5 release date and what is believed to be a 5pm launch time.

That's according to the Bungie blog, which states that Curse of Osiris will be released following a period of maintenance.

While the Bungie blog doesn't reveal when the maintenance will begin, it does say that Curse of Osiris will launch alongside the new weekly reset at 5pm UK time.

"As announced in a previous update, Daily and Weekly Reset will be changing next Tuesday with the release of Curse of Osiris," Bungie confirmed.

Express Online will update this article when an official release time is announced.

Bungie has also revealed pre-load and storage requirements for Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris.

And it's bad news for PS4 users, who will need a massive 88GB of storage space for Curse of Osiris.

Elsewhere, Curse of Osiris requires 44GB on Xbox One, and 68GB on PC.

Fans can start to pre-load Curse of Osiris from 4pm UK time on December 5.

Curse of Osiris takes players to Mercury in search of legendary Guardian Osiris.

"Curse of Osiris is Destiny 2's first expansion and sends you back to the stars to solve a new mystery," reads the official description.

"The Vex are on the march, and our only hope to stop them may lie with Osiris, the notorious heretic and most powerful Warlock in the history of the Last City. On your quest to find him, you'll meet new characters, explore new places, tackle new challenges, and earn some sweet new loot."

The DLC features new story missions, a new destination, an increased power cap, new weapons, armour and more.
