GettyCheapest time to fly: Book before February 15
The cheapest time to fly is from now up until mid February, according to experts.
Flights booked to go away before February 15 will cost on average less than other times during the first half of 2018.
Those looking for the best budget deals should fly between 4 January and 15 February, said George Hobica, founder of Airfare Watchdog.
“In fact, I think that's the cheapest time to fly,” he told Travel & Leisure.
This is because people are often too exhausted from the festive period of Christmas and New Year to book holidays at this time, he explained.
However, flights are likely to be more expensive after this less busy period.
Therefore, if you are happy to book last minute holidays, the next month and a half may be the same to take them.
However, George also put down the belief there is a “magic” days of the year to book budget flights on.

“[People] like to have pat answers and simple solutions.”
“But fares are not going to go on sale,” he added.
Yet he did advise passengers to wait for less busy times when flights are in less demand – which means lower prices.
However, you should bear in mind the cheapest day of the week to book flights.

Holidaymakers can save lots of money by waiting until a certain best day of the week to book flights.
But which day of the week do you think this is?
Conversely, booking a holiday on a Saturday works out the most expensive compared to other week days, according to Momondo.
Booking a trip 60 days in advance could also save you 34 per cent.
